Developed at the Cornell University Research Station in Geneva, NY. It is the 63rd apple released from the breeding program there. It is a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Monroe apple. Autumn Crisp contains more vitamin C than many other apple varieties It is the perfect fresh dessert apple with a flavorful balance of sugar and acid.
Baldwin is a genuine dual-purpose apple. The flavor for eating fresh is sweet and unpretentious, but crisp and pleasant. It is equally at home in the kitchen where it retains its shape when cooked, and lends a moderately rich sweet flavor to apple pies.
Braeburns are sweet with a hint of tart, and a firmness that stores well. These traits plus the fact that they bake well have made them a very versatile apple.
The Cameo is a bright red striped apple with a creamy orange color, that's firm and crisp. It has a thin skin with a sweet tart flavor, and makes a great fresh eating apple.

Cortland is a typical McIntosh style apple variety, and ranks about 12th in terms of US apple production. As with all McIntosh varieties, Cortland is at its best when eaten soon after being picked. The sweet flavor fades quickly, as does the crispness. An interesting characteristic of Cortland is that the flesh does not go brown very rapidly after being cut.
This is a wonderfully well-balanced apple with a complex bouquet of tastes: cider, a hint of cinnamon and hazelnut, and strong orange and mango notes. The even sweet-tart balance is the perfect backdrop against which these flavors gracefully unfold.
Crimson Crisp, as its name implies, is a firm, deep red-purple, and crunchy apple. Its crispy yellow flesh holds a sweet-tart flavor, making it a great fresh-eating apple as well as a juice or cider variety. This medium-sized apple is ready for picking in mid-September to October. It stores well for at least four months.
Good multi-use apple. Medium to large red fruit on almost invisible yellow skin. Crisp, juicy, sweet, good-tasting flesh. Sub-acid, sprightly flavor.
Empire is a sweet apple with a crisp texture and bright white flesh. Although Empire can be stored for a short period, it is best when eaten straight from the tree. It has the characteristic and unusual McIntosh flavor, often described in apple textbooks as "vinous". It is an ideal lunch-box apple, not least because it does not bruise easily.
Medium to large in size the thick skin of the Fuji apple is light red with a yellow blush and oftentimes is lined with red vertical stripes. Their interior creamy white flesh is dense, juicy and crisp. Low in acid its flavor is mild and sweet with hints of both honey and citrus.
Gala apples are covered in a thin yellow to orange skin, highlighted with pink to red stripes that vary in hue dependent upon the apples maturity. Their dense flesh is creamy yellow and crisp, offering a mildly sweet flavor and flora aroma. Gala’s that are allowed to reach the peak of their sweetness on the tree will have a deeper red hue and a slightly sweeter flavor.
The color, shape, and distinctive long stalk all identify it as a relation of Golden Delicious, yet it has a much earlier season - ripening in mid/late August. The flavor is fairly mild, and a bit sharper than Golden Delicious but still sweet for an early variety

The Granny Smith apple gets its name from its founder, Mrs. Mary Ann (Granny) Smith. Granny Smith apples are crisp, juicy, and tart which makes them perfect for either baking in pies, stewed in sauces or eating out of hand. They're also great in salads because once cut, they keep their color longer than other apples.
Honeycrisp apples have a yellow background covered with a red to pink blush and speckled with small lenticels. Their creamy white flesh is exceptionally crisp and aromatic. A balanced content of sugar and acid gives Honeycrisp apples a pleasant sweet-tart flavor that varies in strength depending upon the maturity of the apple.

Medium size, firm fruit with 90% dark red color over greenish background. Flesh firm, crisp, high quality with flavor similar to McIntosh.
The fine textured flesh of the Jonathon apple is creamy yellow in color with a crisp bite and lots of juice. Its flavor is mildly sweet with a tart tang and subtle hints of spice.
The flavor is well balanced, perhaps sharper than many of the Mac-related varieties but still with the characteristic vinous note. Its other parent is an un-named research variety derived from Malus floribunda, from which it inherits resistance to scab.
A small, thin-skinned yellowish-green apple with a sweet-tart flavor, the variety is sometimes referred to as the "transparent" apple and is said to make the best applesauce
Macoun are an apple that is extra sweet, aromatic, juicy with a hint of Crunch. Macoun are known as a perfect apple with a little cheese and wine. Macoun apples are also great for salads and sauce.
The McIntosh apples crisp flesh is exceptionally juicy and bright white in color. When first picked the flavor of the McIntosh apple has a strong sweet-tart taste with nuances of spice, this flavor will mellow slightly in cold storage.
Medium to large in size with a slightly oblong shape the skin of the Mustu apple is smooth and bright green to yellow in color. Its firm white flesh is crisp and juicy with a sweet-tart flavor that has subtle hints of spice. An excellent keeper, the Mutsu apple will take on an even sweeter flavor in cold storage.
The finish color is a "pinkish red," resembling bagged Fujis without the heavy expense of actually bagging the fruit. The flesh is a light creamy-yellow color which is dense and crisp with a flavor sweet, fruity, slightly aromatic and pleasant.
Crisp, juicy yellow flesh tart apple, 3 to 3.25 inches in diameter. About 50 to 90% of the surface is covered with a dull red color. Shape is truncate to conical. Good eaten fresh but also good choice for a cooking apple as it holds its shape when cooked.
The Northern Spy is a very late season, large and stout apple with carmine red skin married with streaks of yellow and pale green. Its tender-crisp flesh is creamy yellow and juicy. It imparts a bit of tartness in its bite, but more of a cider-quality flavor with hints of pear and sweetness.
Very distinctive in both flavor and color, Pink Lady ™ apples offer an exceptionally sweet to tart taste with a firm and juicy flesh. Medium in size and oblong in shape its skin is yellow, covered with a red to pink blush. Its creamy white flesh is highly crisp and resistant to browning when sliced.
Fruit quality and size are excellent. Flesh is white and firmer than other Mac strains.
Summer Rambo is a green apple, sometimes developing a red blush. The variety is tender, juicy, and possesses a fine, tart flavor.
The thick skin of the Red Delicious apple is bright to deep red in color, oftentimes speckled with faint white lenticels (spots). Its creamy white flesh is slightly crisp and dense offering a mildly sweet flavor and slightly flora aroma.
The thick skin of the Rome apple is solid bright to deep red in color. These superb cooking apples retain their shape beautifully as well as their tart flavor.
This Jonagold strain is licensed in Germany and produces a large fruit striped red over yellow. It has a firm, cracking, slightly tart flesh and is one of the finest dessert or eating quality apples.
Creamy, white flesh and crisp, juicy eating quality similar to old-fashioned Jonathan, with 100% Jonathan flavor and size.
In terms of flavor, Sansa is essentially an early-ripening Gala. It inherits Gala's inherent sweetness, but with more acidity - as might be expected given its earlier ripening season.
Blush. Approximates flavor of Fuji in spite of much shorter growing season.
Same parentage as Mutsu (Crispin). Large. Yellow with red-orange blush. Sweeter with less acid than Mutsu (not necessarily preferable), but excellent flavor.
Large, flattish shape, yellow flushed and striped red. Flesh crisp, yellowish, moderately fine-grained. Fresh cider flavor. Very good quality cooking, eating, and baking apple. Keeps well through March.
Stayman is a medium-sized, roundish-conic apple with a thick greenish-yellow skin covered almost entirely with a deep red blush, darker red stripes and russet dots. Firm, tender, finely-textured juicy, crisp yellowish-green flesh is tart and spicy. Staymans keep very well. They are used primarily as a dessert apple, but also make a fine addition to blended cider.
The fruit color is golden with an reddish-orange blush. This dual-purpose apple matures approximately one week after Golden Delicious, has a sweet, mildly sub-acid taste.
An early yellow apple ripening the first week in July. The fruit is tender, juicy and mildly acid, making it a favorite for homemade applesauce.
It can be eaten fresh but is primarily a culinary apple, also popular for juice/cider production.
A well-known American cooking apple, notable for its large size. Wolf River is mainly used for cooking, and it keeps its shape when cooked. It is fairly sweet and doesn't need much sugar added.
